Foreign Birth Registration
Irish born individuals
are Irish Citizens. This goes for
individuals born abroad of an Irish
born parent. Individuals born abroad
whose parents were also born abroad
but who have an Irish-born Grandparent,
may become Irish citizens, but they
have to first register their foreign
birth.
Foreign birth registration can take
between 6 months and 1 year to come
through.

- NO COPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED
1. The applicants
long form birth certificate
detailing full details of his
or her parents. If the applicant
was born in the Republic of
South Africa, we require his
/ her vault birth certificate
(an unabridged birth certificate
will not be accepted).
2. If the applicant is a married
woman, we require her long form
marriage certificate. If the
applicant was married in the
Republic of South Africa, we
require his / her vault marriage
certificate (an unabridged marriage
certificate will not be accepted).
3. A Photocopy of the applicants
Identity Document or Passport
4. The applicants parents long
form birth certificate detailing
the Irish born Grandparent.
5. The applicant's parents long
form marriage certificate. If
the applicant was married in
the Republic of South Africa,
we require his / her vault marriage
certificate (an unabridged marriage
certificate will not be accepted).
6. The applicants parents Irish
or South African Passport. (A
copy of this will be accepted).
If however, the applicant's
parents are deceased, we require
a vault death certificate.
7. The applicants Grandparents
through whom citizenship is
being claimed, long form birth
certificate. This certificate
should detail their parents.
8. The applicants Grandparents
long form marriage certificate.
If the Grandparents were married
in the Republic of South Africa,
we require their vault marriage
certificate (an unabridged marriage
certificate will not be accepted).
9. If the applicants Grandparent
through whom citizenship is
being claimed is deceased, we
require his / her long form
death certificate. If the Grandparent
died in the Republic of South
Africa, we require their vault
death certificate (an unabridged
marriage certificate will not
be accepted).
10. If the applicants Grandparent
through whom citizenship is
being claimed is alive, we require
a copy of their current passport.
11. In the case where the applicant's
parents have a foreign birth
registration certificate, this
document should be submitted
along with the entire requirements
listed above. |
